"If I believed the world were to end tomorrow,
I would still plant a tree today."

- Martin Luther

TREE AID works to alleviate poverty in some of the world’s poorest communities in Africa, where trees mean life. Trees are not only a source of food, shelter, shade and fuel but also support many cottage industries which provide an essential extra income for families.

For example, in Burkina Faso, women can earn up to £250 a year, a huge amount of money in rural Africa, from selling shea nut butter, processed from the nuts of shea trees. The extra income is used to provide schooling and healthcare, enabling families to thrive rather than survive. To date TREE AID has supported the planting and nurturing of over 6 million trees in woodlands, shelterbelts and around homes in dryland Africa.

This year, for each tree we sell, the Christmas Forest will fund a new tree in West Africa.
