Meet the Trees
Christmas Trees are central to our Christmas festivities, an abiding icon of traditional celebrations and one that we all love and cherish. Our trees are the result of many years of endeavour and investment in our own Christmas Tree plantations in Scotland. So now it’s time to introduce our trees.
First up is the traditional tree that we all associate with Christmas, probably because it was first made popular by Prince Albert in the 19th Century. Whilst the Norway Spruce is not a native species it thrives in the northern climes of the UK and has been planted here for at least four centuries. They are fast growing and can reach over 40m high. They are tall and straight and the triangular shape is one that we associate with Christmas. As well as pot planted trees we supply cut trees from 3ft to 12ft and beyond, by special order. The Norway Spruce are vivid green and have a delicious smell. Great for outdoors they do suffer in a well heated house so a water holding stand is an absolute must.
Next up is the venerable Nordmann Fir, named after Finnish zoologist Alexander von Nordmann. Once again the Nordmann Fir is not a native species in the UK but it has been grown here for hundreds of years. It is one of the most important species grown for Christmas trees, because of its attractive foliage, with needles that are not sharp, and do not drop readily when the tree dries out. A subtler hue of green the Nordmann Fir has been gaining in popularity in recent years. We have trees from 3ft to 12ft and beyond if you have a special requirement. Like all real trees they benefit from a water holding stand once cut and erected indoors. A well looked after tree will look splendid for well over a month making it the perfect choice if you wish to put one up in early December and keep it there until 12th night.
